Cynthia Paulos, Principal
Cynthia (Cindy) Paulos is originally from Ohio, the home of the Buckeyes! She graduated from The Ohio State University with a BA in Classical Humanities. After college she worked in various management positions in private business. She became a teacher in 1989 after re-locating to Los Angeles. She taught elementary students for 10 years and served as a mentor teacher after her third year of teaching.
In 1999, Ms. Paulos left the classroom and became a Literacy Advisor at LAUSD’s Central office. That year she earned her Master’s Degree in Administration from Pepperdine University. She spent the next several years working in district office positions where she developed curriculum and provided professional development for teachers and administrators in areas of literacy and standards based instruction. In 2005 she took a year’s leave of absence from LAUSD to accept a principal position at an elementary school in northern California.
After returning to LAUSD, Ms. Paulos held administrative positions in the Local District office including Intervention Coordinator, Parent Ombudsperson, and Administrator of Instruction. She is currently the principal of Short Ave. Elementary School.

Attention Short Avenue Parents!
If you're looking for an opportunity to get involved in your Short Avenue community in a meaningful way, please consider joining the School Site Council (SSC)! Once a month, come out for about an hour to hear how our students are scoring on District-wide assessments, give your input on the types of Intervention and Outreach programs we offer, and more. We need 2 more Parent/Community members and 1 Parent Alternate member. Our next meeting is Tuesday, February 2nd at 2:45p.m. in the School Library. We'd love to see you there! If you have any questions about SSC membership, please contact Mrs. Robertson in the school office. Thanks!

Short Avenue family, YOU ROCK! ! Our Title I funding was in jeopardy. But with just a little bit of effort from you, our phone calls and letters home encouraged 42% of families who had not previously applied for School Lunch to do so! So we will continue to be able to fund several employee positions and certain instructional materials for every student at Short!! Each family has different needs, but we all benefit from Title I. Thank you so much for looking out for each other.
