ABOUT US
Short Avenue Elementary, a charming neighborhood school nestled within and surrounded by vibrant and growing communities, has won numerous awards from technology (LA App Challenge) to visual and performing arts (Bookmark, Art, Dance) & more. Focused on the whole child, the thoughtful curriculum includes TK-6 school-wide hands-on science projects, Latin for all classes, technology education, visual and performing art classes, STEAM Exhibition Nights, and much more.
Later this year students will be engaged in Adopt the Arts, a grant funded modern music program. The school is also in the consideration phase of becoming an International Baccalaureate program. Stop by the school and you will see delightful, happy children blossoming from dedicated, caring, enthusiastic and happy teachers, staff and principal, bolstered by passionate and committed parents and volunteers.

MISSION STATEMENT
Short Avenue Elementary School's Mission calls upon all staff and parents, working together, to enrich our students through innovative, real-world, student- centered, project-based learning within the interconnected fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).
Through this process of inquiry, collaboration, communication, design and critical thinking, all students will confidently exhibit 21st Century skills that will effectively prepare them for a world of diverse, global opportunities. In addition, our students will understand how their comprehensive education provides them with, not just the knowledge and skills, but also the integrity to become productive, disciplined, and responsible citizens of the world.
